Cyanotypes are commonly recognised for their prussian blue colour, caused by oxidisation of the iron salts when exposed to UV light. The below cyanotypes have been altered using botanical tannins from foraged materials such as oak galls and sycamore leaves, coffee grounds and tea. Binding with the irons in the cyanotype image, these tannins cause a shift in the final tones of images, carefully controlled through timings and temperatures.
